Collection: Alice Attie

Alice Attie is a visual artist and poet based in New York City. With an MFA in poetry and a PhD in comparative literature. Attie’s artistic practice explores the space beyond language; that which language itself can not simply express, and the possibilities of communicating understanding through the habitual exercise of mapping. Attie’s series entitled “Class Notes” is a set of drawings made in physics and philosophy seminars at Columbia University. Each drawing is completed within the frame of a single class session and becomes a visual analogue to the intellectual adventure. Her series “Possibilities” more loosely explores the transformative act of organizing marks on a page.
