Sarah Mijares Fick
Hudson Valley based ceramist Sarah Mijares Fick’s sculptures emerge from an intuitive and tactile relationship to material. Grounded in the philosophy of oneness, her works explore connection, transformation, and the invisible threads that bind us. Composed of hundreds of hand-squeezed clay fragments, each form supports and merges with the next, creating a unified whole that reflects both individual and collective identity. The raw impressions of her hands, fingertips, palms, the tension of grasps, remain embedded in the surface, becoming records of her touch. In Mijares Fick’s practice, space is defined not by mass but by these echoes of contact allowing the viewer to slow down, look closely, and consider the connectivity of all things
